Sébastien has been credited as one of the most outstanding artists in the current electronic music business, an exceptionally gifted producer who is operating beyond his upbringing of French filter house clichés.
The son of two professional musicians Sébastien attended the academy of music from the age of five to 15, integrating technique and musical theory on piano and drums. Soon Sébastien began visiting record stores, impressed by the likes of Ian Pooley, Daft Punk and Sneak, all of whom introduced him to a new world of sounds and styles. He liked what he heard and before long Sébastien stepped behind the turntables. Perfecting his DJing technique came with relative ease as he used his solid percussion skills to help him along. In 1998 he started creating his own house productions that spanned into the realms of techno while always retaining a unique element of funk. In 1998 Sébastien published his first EPs under the alias Deaf'n'Dumb Crew.
In the years that followed Sébastien released more than 30 records on many international labels, building his reputation as a key player within the new blood of talented producers. He also began working for record label Black Jack; it gave Sébastien the chance to meet many prestigious artists from the Chicago house scene. He learned a lot from them but his aim was to innovate and not imitate and so 1999 saw Sébastien’s first album ‘Atomic Pop’ released which included an appearance from Junior Sanchez. Parallel to building his international DJ career Sébastien Léger is becoming more and more in demand for his remixing skills; working for the likes of Justin Timberlake, Armand Van Helden, Eric Prydz, Dannii Minogue, Kevin Saunderson and labels including Ministry of Sound, Defected and Intec name a just a few.
After gaining recognition in Germany, the UK, Japan, the US, the Netherlands and of course France, Sébastien is only at the beginning of conquering the world of electronic music. In 2007 Sébastien launched his own record label ‘Mistakes Music’ which saw the release of highly acclaimed ‘Planets’ album. His single ‘Hypnotized’ was released in February with Ministry of Sound. As well as djing worldwide, Sebastien holed up in the studio for much of 2007 with new production buddy Chris Lake trailing ‘The Mistakes EP’ collaboration, a hit in itself it has already clocked up over 5,000 downloads and counting.
Sébastien is booked to play all over the world with gigs already confirmed for Shanghai, France, UK, Latvia, Germany and with more top venues queuing up to hear Sébastien play. 2008 is definitely going to be a very busy year for Monsieur Léger.
