Scan 7 is a mysterious techno collective in Detroit consisting of seven artists. The group always wears masks when performing.
Originally born in late 80's, TrackMasta Lou A.K.A. SCAN 7's, first release, "Voices Beyond", came out on the Submerge compilation, "Escape into The Void". He unleashed projects such as "Introducing SCAN 7" and the "Undetectable" EP, both on Underground Resistance (UR), as well as an exclusive "S.I.D" EP, entitled "Invisible Thoughts".
In the late 90's TrackMasta Lou's made contact with Europe's most respected European label, Tresor Records in Berlin, Germany. TrackMasta Lou's first contact with Tresor came from doing traxs on Blake Baxter’s “313 Detroit” compilation. Through a liaison with Dimitri Hegemann (owner of Tresor & credited for introducing Detroit Techno to Europe), TrackMasta Lou released many rare recordings on the Tresor compilations.
Later, TrackMasta Lou put out two collectable albums with Tresor, "The Dark Territory" and the "Resurfaced" album. Both were laced with a deep dark dose of classic Detroit style Techno, embedded with the imprints of the SCAN 7 trademark drums. Under SCAN 7, TrackMasta Lou released materials on other labels such as; Soma, Fcom, End to End, Elypsia, and Pow Wow Records. TrackMasta Lou then went on to form, what is now the legendary SCAN 7 Live Act!
The group is famous for its ninja-like appearances, often dressed in black flight suites with black masks and hats. They use code names to protect their true identification. They believe it's not who you see, but what you hear, that is the most important element in Techno.
SCAN 7's most famous release to date: "I AM FROM DETROIT" EP which includes 2 classic Detroit anthem's "I AM FROM DETROIT" & "YOU HAVE THE RIGHT" on display in The Detroit Historical Museum for Detroit’s Gift to the World" (World's 1st Techno exhibit!)
Fast forward to 2011 TrackMasta Lou has formed a sub-label called CREATESAVERS INTERNATIONAL LLC , which he has released his first new EP of the year called “LEADERS OF THE PACK”.
SCAN7’s first compilation Vol.1 “TECHNO BRINGS PEOPLE TOGETHER “ is due out this year on Cratesavers International LLC and there is more to come...
