BIOGRAPHY Runestarted his DJ career in 93.Having spent 4 years playing drums in various funk bands, the basic skills ofbeatmixing and cutting came to him easily. Before releasing his first EPin 95, he spent seven years producing hiphop tunes for local talents.
Beingfed up with blunt smoking lazy rappersthat never showed up on time for sessions, he decided to work alone and thisled to house music. While having a natural flair for music that makes peoplemove and doing really good from the beginning, it was in 2002 with the ArtificialFunk single “Together”that people outside Denmark started taking notice of what is now the brighteststar on the Danish house scene.
Afterthe succes of “Together”,Rune’s next outing became one of the Ibiza 2003 season defining tracks, in theshape of the haunting sax driven classic, "Calabria".Even in 2007 the track is still creating chart mayhem, as the covers wont seemto end. The latest being Alex Gaudino Destination Calabria, landed at top4 in the uk single charts. Runes own version Enur Calabria,is also creating mayhem across Europe the summer of 2007.
Notone to stand po-faced against a wall in a club, Rune believes that many DJshave forgotten where they came from - "they used to be in front of thespeakers dancing and screaming along with everybody else" - and once in awhile he still knocks the needle off the records during his sets because he isdancing so much.
Havingwon best club dj off the year 4years in a row in his home country denmark, rune is known for hisunique blend of classics and new releases. His technique is beyond just playingthe tracks. Youll see him adding accapellas,and his sets consist mainly of special editscreated for the occasion.Rune believesthat its important to deliver a show, so there is a lot ofaction behind the decks.
In2005, rune and his brother Johannes Torpe(half of Artificial Funk), decided to take matters in their own hands. Tired oflabels with conventional ideas of how to release their music, they joinedforces and created their label Arti Farti.
Acouple off releases in, Arti Farti is a grand succes. With support from LaurentGarnier, Pete Tong, Roger Sanchez to Josh Wink,the label is set for the stars.
2006The brothers also created Tattoorec.com.With its unique concept of no titles, only tattoos,the label quickly gathered support from the biggest minimal djs across theglobe. Sven Väth, Richie hawtin, Magda, Tiefschwarz, RicardoVillalobos, all support the weird and experimental releases. Its aplayground for the brothers, with focus on challenging the limit of what willwork on a dancefloor.
Allreleases from rune, being on tattoorec, or arti farti have deep roots from detroitand chicago, and its important for him to keepeach release exciting and fresh sounding.
2006,Rune also joined forces with Jerome Sydenham,a long time hero. They created the label Avocadorecs, and their frst release Elephant/Cantstop not, is all ready being played by everyone. Also Rune wasgranted the honour of remixing the classic "Thatsthe way love is", byTen City. recently released on Ibadan,this year seems to be the year of the Rune.

Roger Sanchez has licensed the track "Bariton", from runesArti Farti label.
The track will be featured on Rogersclassic mix cd series "Release yourself", aswell as being released ona 12" pack from Stealth recordings.
Runes, Enur Calabria Burnthesingle charts in france.
Runes new version of his own classic "Calabria", is at the moment residing atnr 11 inthe french singles charts. It has sold 25.000 copies in three weeks, and isalso nr 6 inthe french airplay charts. Alex Gaudinos cover version "DestinationCalabria", is currently nr 4in the uksingles charts. Its seems the journey of Runes classic track will neverstop.
Rune Calabriasells 1,6 million copies.
Runes Classic Calabria has now sold amazing 1,6 million copiesworldwide. Since its release in 2003, the track has just kept on selling. Considering,that there was never a video, or an official remix, this is truely an amazingachievement these days.
