BIOGRAPHY
Rejane’s dream of becoming a singer was catalysed by the early death of her beloved father and Rejane believed she could soothe her grieving mother's sadness by singing her favourite songs to her every night. By the age of eleven, Rejane's overwhelming talent was apparent, so mother and daughter embarked on the adventure of making the dream come true.
The path to her dream incorporated a productive entertainment career covering television with a part in “The Electric Company” starring Morgan Freeman; TV commercials for Coca Cola and McDonalds; and a movie lead role in “The Story of Wilma Rudolph” starring Denzel Washington.
During this time, Rejane was pursuing her musical talent, studying opera, as well as various vocal techniques. The musical dream took off a few years later when a record producer, Reggie Thompson, suggested she sing a song which he had written for the group, “Indeep”. That record sold millions and Rejane travelled the four corners of the world performing the hit “Last Night the DJ Saved My Life”.
Rejane’s style and talent led to collaborations with other artists such as Stevie Wonder, Mick Jagger, Toots Thielemens and French artists such as Arno, Alain Chamfort and Sacha Distel. Later Rejane joined the group, “Technotronic”, known for hits such as “Pump up the Jam”, making number 1 on the Top of the Pops. Rejane's debut with the group, singing “Move that Body”, hit number 10 on the Top of the Pops.
Rejane’s background and all these musical endeavours inspired a new artistic adventure combining Rejane's love for classical music and hip hop. Together with a philharmonic orchestra and using urban beats, Rejane created her spectacular latest album “Forbidden Opera”, released by EMI Virgin classics in 2005.
