Natarcia Ommen was born in Suriname ( South America above Brazil) on the day her parents got married, [guess you could say she was born 2 party] and raised in A’dam [Holland].
Both her parents were into soul and Suriname music, so the tunes and lyrics of Millie Jackson, Marvin Gay ,Betty Wright and the drumbeats of Surinam artists like Lieve Hugo, sounded like lullabies 2 her ears.
She Didn’t play with dolls.She played with records and she still does. No wonder she became a dj. She started dj-ing at school, wrote her own rhymes and started rapping & breakdancing..One thing let 2 another and Natarcia became dancer 4 a house band named Fierce Ruling Diva.
After a few years with the band she got more work behind the decks and decided 2 become a full time dj. In 2004 she had the privilege to act as a dj in a production from Made in the Shade named Pussy Lounge named after the famous club evening in the Roxy .That was a great experience for her.
Style
She call’s it Black house ,It’s a mix of US garage{vocal house], latinhouse, deephouse, electro, techno, club and tribal.It depends on the party and the people what she’ll do. One thing is for sure whatever style Natarcia plays ,sexy grooves with uplifting basslines and funky drums, will always set her tone. Mixing is her main thing, that’s why she love vinyl, so people can see as well as hear what she is doing.
Where
One of the first big clubs in A’dam were Natarcia got her residence was the ROXY {Pussy Lounge}. From there on she got residencies in clubs like The Richter, Havana, .Eye[Rotterdam], Stalker [ Haarlem]and The Ministry{A’dam]. Some of the other countries where she had the privilege to play: US, Germany, Russia, Denmark, Isreal, France, Spain, Austria, Portugal, Turkey and so on.
At the moment Natarcia is producing her own tracks, which will be out later this year (20008). You can except a groovy mixture of vocal house, latin,techno, club, elctro & a little tip of hip hop…yes Blackhouse!
