FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MAURICE JOSHUA BIO

In the years since he first burst upon the club scene in 1989 with the now classic anthem "This Is Acid", 2002 and 2001 Grammy Nominated Remixer of the year Maurice Joshua has earned an extremely high degree of respect from his contemporaries. In fact, in the grand scheme of house music, he is revered as one of the worlds best DJ / Producers / Remixers as well as one of the original architects of the sound that now dominates dance floors all over the world.

By 1989, "This is Acid" had become the catalyst for the chemical reaction that brought Maurice onto the global scene. The single reached #1 on Billboard's Dance Club Play Chart, as well as the Dance Sales Chart. In addition to it's US chart success, "This is Acid", (which was originally released on the Chicago independent label Trax Records) became the milestone for house music. The record was later licensed and released by Vendetta/ A&M Records, setting the airwaves of Europe ablaze as well, consequently earmarking a universally strong beginning.

Many will also recall Joshua's prominent role as one of the members of Chicago's worldwide famed triumphant trio, I.D. Productions.  Along with Steve "Silk" Hurley and Eric "E-Smoove" Miller, Maurice completed the trinity that helped to re-define what a remix was.  Instead of just extending the length of the song, the song was completely reworked and reproduced and took a whole new form ready to take clubland by storm.

During this time, his hit-making flavor enabled him to go solo. Joshua has since reached greater career heights as the proprietor of Vibe Music & Music Plant (a company with which he is currently not involved or affiliated in any way), for which he produced several massive club anthems such as the No. 1 Billboard Hit "For the Love of You," by Meechie, as well as Kiss FM London's favorite tunes:  House 101, House 102, Chantay Savage  "Got a Hold On U", D Bora "Good Love Real Love", Mixx Vibes "Just Cant Get Enough", to name but a few.

For Grammy Nominated Maurice, timeless jams like these, have not only proved to everyone that he was way ahead of his time in producing massive tunes that would set the standards for today's dominating dance genres, but also allowed him to constantly expose to clubland his seamless and floor filling mixing skills, with numerous DJ performances throughout the world.  He has been there and done that, way before many DJs have.

Whether being played in famous clubs like the Ministry of Sound, Cream, the Sound Factory in NYC, Coccorico in Rimini, MZA in Japan, or Dance Festivals and Miami Winter Music Conference Parties that date as early as 1991, Maurice has gained worldwide respect as being one of the worlds top DJs. His sets are something more than outstanding, as he knows what to mix and when to mix it, reaching his fans inner heart and soul. If you are looking for soulful odysseys, disco filtered dubs, afro Cuban rhythms, middle eastern percussion or even classic disco, hip hop and reggae, Maurice's sets are definitely the ones that will lead the way to your "entranced" club journeys.
Along the way, Joshua proved his exquisite versatility as an artist by adding songwriting to his roster of talents. Reaching his peek in 1996 he struck an EMI Publishing Agreement with VP Jody Gerson.  Since then Joshua has written and produced hits for worldwide     renown Artists such as Byron Stingily, Kim English, Celeda and RCA Recording Group Public Announcement, Maurice expanded his creative palette and branched out into pop and R&B from a different standpoint.

Aside from touring the world, producing essential club cuts, and remixing both pop and ethnic artists, Maurice hits the airwaves 3 times a week hosting his own exclusive mix Show for Chicago's "The New Killer Bee" B96 FM Radio. B96 is not only the #1 radio station in Chicago, it is one of the few dominating mainstream radio stations in the nation.  His goal is to educate and entertain his fans at the same time, by providing them with the freshest and funkiest house/garage and hip hop/R&B/reggae tunes, way before they are even officially promoted to club DJs.  He is considered to be one of the very few US Radio DJs to have the power of effortlessly breaking records, whether Dance or Urban, as his audience exceeds 2 million listeners.  Artists and record labels, major and minor, always make sure he gets 2 copies of every project, as they consider Maurice to be USA's answer to UK's Pete Tong, Judge Jules and Gilles Peterson.

Years ago, on an ongoing effort to infiltrate new markets and genres, Maurice predicted that the next big thing in Music, which was going to take Generation X and Y by storm, was R&B and Hip Hop.  He also realized that this genre had no DJ/ Producer providing dance mixes to the original tracks.  So they gave it a chanceŠ.

Sure Enough, Maurice became the darling of the R&B/hip-hop circuit, having added his magic touch to Artists such as Mary J Blige, Faith Evans,  Mariah Carey Zhane, Monifah, Tatyana Ali, Kelly Price, En Vogue, and Tamia, as well as producing the Dance Version of Mary Mary's Smash Hit "Shackles" and  becoming the Exclusive Remixer of the world's hottest Pop & R&B Band, Destiny's Child, remixing all of their tracks on their albums, and ensuring him a position on the production of the Band's Upcoming LPs.

This type of Success though did not come easy for Joshua.  Continuous requests for remixes by major label A&R executives, would not be possible if Maurice had not put his entire heart and soul to his job.  The mixes he delivered were not simple edits, additional dance beats and computerized stretching of the vocals.  The song was completely reconstructed from scratch.  The beats were fresh, not sampled, the instruments were Live, the melodies were new, and the vocals were re-cut, giving a whole new meaning and flavor to the track, essentially producing the Artists and not simply remixing them.
The ultimate achievement for Joshua came in  2002 & 2001 when all of his hard work had been paid off by a Grammy Nomination of Remixer of the Year.  Nevertheless Maurice remained humble and thankful, instead of arrogant and demanding, realizing that his Nomination was a simple acknowledgement of his hard work, and that more hard work was about to come.   "Its hard to get on top, but its easy to fall down, and you will fall down faster than u got up if you do not realize this", Maurice states at a recent TV Interview, in regards to his Grammy Nomination.  When asked "how does it feel being a celebrity" Joshua replied with a smile of satisfaction: "I love style, fashion, glamour, expensive cars, elegant houses and the whole entourage that follows a superstar DJ, but nothing comes for free and nothing stays for free" and that is my advise to any present or future superstar DJ" he continues...
