Godfather of house is back, claiming his rightful status as the Architect of House Music.
The Legendary Chip E. is known as the “Godfather of House Music”. He co-produced Frankie Knuckles’ first album and is widely held as responsible for the use of the terms “House” and “Jack” in the House Music genre. In 1987, he became the first (and still the only) Chicago artist to be in regular rotation on all three major Chicago radio stations (WBMX, WGCI-FM and B96). Former B96 programming manager Joe Bohannon (Joe Bo) made the decision to add “If You Only Knew” to regular rotation. With that began the transition of the station from CHR (contemporary hit radio) to a dance music station reaching over 6 million listeners.
Chip-E might have been away from the music stage for a while, however in 2017 he did a great comeback. Chip E. signed a license and distribution deal with Universal Music Group to reissue his old catalog of House Music anthems and classics. Here a whole lot of festivals followed: Eyelife Music Festival in Havana, Cuba; The One Love Music Festival in Lake Perris, Ca… He also worked in Australia on a Remix of his hit single “Time to Jack ” with the legendary Carl Cox. Chip finished up his year performing in Asia (Paradise Club, Miami Club, Insanity) and Thailand (Full Moon Music Festival).
And by looking to 2018 we can expect even more activity, more parties and more HOUSE. Recently Soma Records released the Slam featuring Chip E. “Like This” track. Watch for the soon to be released Chip E. & Gettoblaster track “Time 2 Jack Again” a collaboration with DJ Pierre on Chip’s “Going to a House Party” Single, and the Electro anthem “My Precious Face” as Chip E. collaborates with Saladin. Together they have also signed “Way of the Dragon” to Audio Bites Records for an April release.
Chip E. is planning a grand tour starting from April to June and deejaybooking.com is definitely a place to get the best date for your club!
